Court Interpreting in Family Violence Matters Short course

Course participants will examine relevant concepts, processes, terminology and best practice for interpreting in these settings. The training will consist of two parts:  self-directed learning activities followed by a live online workshop.

Family violence court settings are complex, and often involve confronting and sensitive subject matter. It is recommended that interpreters who work in these settings undertake specialised training to ensure that they have the required knowledge and skills. In this course, you will examine the definition and dynamics of family violence, and learn about family violence intervention orders, legal terminology relevant to this field, and ethical considerations.

Whether you have interpreted in court for family violence matters before, or you are completely new to this area, the course will help you build the confidence to interpret effectively in these settings.
