On the face of it – Understanding AHPRA’s guidelines on mental health assessment of cosmetic Short c

This online short course represents a unique partnership between Monash University’s School of Translational Medicine and the Cosmetic Physicians College of Australasia. The course provides foundational knowledge to promote understanding of the importance of mental health assessments for individuals seeking cosmetic procedures, and the necessary procedures to implement these assessments. The course features up-to-date evidence-based research and clinical expertise from world leading mental health and cosmetic practitioners.

 

The self-paced online course consists of the following five modules:

  1. Interpret the rationale behind conducting psychological assessments on aesthetic patients and recognise its significance in providing comprehensive care.
  2. Analyse and interpret the new guidelines for medical practitioners performing cosmetic surgery, identifying the expectations for psychological assessment and patient care.
  3. Compare and contrast different methods of psychological assessment for aesthetic patients, such as GP assessment, psychologist assessment, questionnaires, and mental health history review.
  4. Assess key medical and psychological conditions that may impact cosmetic procedures, recognising their potential significance in patient outcomes and safety.
  5. Evaluate the appropriate circumstances that warrant a referral to a psychologist, psychiatrist, or general practitioner, based on patient assessment and clinical judgment.
