Bachelor of Communication/ Bachelor of Laws

Bond’s fast-track trimester timetable makes it easy to tackle a double degree. In fact, you can complete two degrees here in less time than you could graduate with just one at most other universities.

Our Bachelor of Communication / Bachelor of Laws combination can be completed in just over three years (10 semesters) whereas it can take up to four years to complete a single law degree elsewhere.

The combination of communication and law will help you develop a multi-layered skillset that will make you stand out to employers in almost any industry or work setting.

You will develop written and oral communication skills, a thorough and up-to-the-minute understanding of digital platforms, social media, and mainstream and new media, and an approved law degree for the purpose of admission as a legal practitioner (in conjunction with the Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice).

Studying these two in-demand degrees concurrently also represents a significant cost saving compared to studying the two degrees separately.

Communication skills are in high demand in all fields and most professional roles, including management and specific fields such as advertising, public relations, marketing, journalism, social media, film and television, computer animation, user-interface design, human resources, corporate training, and professional writing. The Bachelor of Communication program will provide you with the skills to stand out as an exceptional communicator in any task. Our flexible Bachelor of Communication provides you with the opportunity to explore many options in personalising your learning. As part of the program, you will select a minor in a specific area of interest. These areas include public relations, advertising, journalism, communication and society, corporate storytelling, creative writing, digital media, film and television, and social media. Our subjects contain assessments that may lead you to produce advertising and public relations campaigns for real clients as well as blogs, podcasts, published media stories, and websites. You will also gain insight into communication in various contexts, including interpersonal, intercultural, gender, and persuasive communication. Our graduates are now working with leading advertising agencies, as award-winning investigative journalists, in public relations consultancies, in marketing roles, in corporate training, and in other roles that reflect the evolving nature of communication practices. Altogether, the degree offers students a stimulating course of study and excellent career prospects.

The Bachelor of Laws prepares students for a career as a legal professional, both within Australia and overseas. It provides students with a thorough grounding in essential areas of substantive law and access to a wide choice of law elective subjects, including the option of completing a specialisation. An integrated skills and professionalism program is embedded in the degree and focuses on core legal skills essential to the practice of law. The Bachelor of Laws provides an engaging learning experience that challenges students academically and prepares them practically for a legal career.
