A minimum of three years and a maximum of four years (full-time equivalent), this degree is awarded on the basis of an externally examined thesis of approximately 100,000 words.
Academic Entry Requirements
Bachelor degree and subsequent additional honours degree (first or second class); or Masters by Research degree; or current Federation University Australia Masters by Research candidate with sufficient research capability to demonstrate PhD capacity, assessed via formal Confirmation of Candidature process; or Honourse equivalence, for applicants who have completed a Master by coursework or have appropriate professional experience.
All students must have previously completed a thesis or dissertation demonstrating the ability to undertake research at a PhD level.
English language requirement
Academic IELTS of 6.5 overall with no band less than 6.0; or equivalent
