Graduate Diploma of Early Childhood Teaching
The Graduate Diploma of Early Childhood Teaching prepares you to follow your passions in nurturing children’s learning and development in their early years (birth to 5 years).
As a pre-service teacher, you’ll learn how to create engaging and supportive learning environments.
You’ll deepen your knowledge of the early childhood curriculum and develop essential communication skills to collaborate effectively with children, their families and community across a diverse range of early childhood settings.
Get paid professional experience
At Swinburne, you’ll have the opportunity to get real industry experience with every core unit comes an embedded placement. You may also choose to work casually at childcare centres or preschools outside of your placements.
You’ll also have opportunities to go on paid internships, and enlist in paid casual relief teaching pools.

Course structure
To qualify for the award of Graduate Diploma of Early Childhood Teaching, students must complete 100 credit points comprising:
- Four core units (25 credit points each for a total of 100 credit points)
- 60 days of supervised professional experience
Maximum Academic Credit
Academic credit cannot be granted for prior study.
