In this course, you’ll expand your knowledge of computer science, data analytics and visualisation, and gain an understanding of the challenges of the data management lifecycle. You’ll also complete a project-based learning unit designed to introduce industry-relevant tools and techniques.
Course description
The Graduate Certificate of Data Science has been designed for students who wish to extend their knowledge of computer science and data analytics by getting an understanding of the challenges, techniques and tools of the data management lifecycle. This postgraduate course will build on a student's cognate undergraduate qualifications or relevant industry experience by developing skills in relation to managing, interpreting, visualising and deriving knowledge from small to medium-sized data sets, allowing them to take on a variety or roles in data-driven decision making. This course includes a project-based learning unit that exposes students to industry-relevant tools and techniques as well as units focusing on advanced data analytics and visualisation.
Course structure
To qualify for the Graduate Certificate of Data Science, students must complete 100 credit points comprising of:
- Eight (8) core units (100 credit points).
Volume of Learning
The Graduate Certificate of Data Science consists of 100 credit points. A standard annual full-time load comprises 100 credit points and a part-time load comprises 50 credit points. The volume of learning of the Graduate Certificate of Data Science is typically one year.
Maximum Academic Credit
The maximum level of credit that can be granted for the Graduate Certificate of Data Science is 50 credit points (normally four units)
