Computer Science with Artificial Intelligence with Foundation Year BSc(Hons)

This programme is not available to international students. Instead, international students should apply for our international foundation programmes delivered by our International Study Centre on campus.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) powers innovations everywhere, from virtual assistant technology to self-driving cars. You may have heard of the ‘fourth industrial revolution’, AI is a fundamental technology that enables systems to transform our everyday lives. Our course is designed, therefore, to equip you with the necessary skills to position yourself at the forefront of this technological revolution.

Our integrated foundation degrees are for those of you who possess the capability to pursue a degree but do not have the pre-requisite qualifications to directly apply to your desired course. The duration of the foundation element is one year, and, if you successfully pass, you will automatically progress on to the degree.

From your second year, you’ll follow a core computing programme to give you a broad understanding of the subject, developing skills in programming and mathematics. From your third year onwards, you’ll take several specialist AI modules, covering symbolic, sub-symbolic and statistical AI and their applications in natural language processing, speech, and image recognition. You also have the option to secure an industry placement in your fourth year.
