Enhancing Practice Educator Skills
This course provides qualified social workers with an opportunity to qualify as a stage two practice educator in accordance with the requirements of the Practice Educator Framework. It will assist you in developing knowledge and skills in designing and planning learning activities required to facilitate the learning of others and developing learning opportunities for students.
- The course provides an opportunity to explore the theories around adult learning and evaluate a series of teaching methods as well as your own learning and supervision needs as a practice educator.
- You will explore and critically analyse your professional development as a practice educator and reflect on how you can use a variety of methods in practice education.
- Higher Education Institution (HEI) processes and quality assurance systems related to practice education will also be considered.
- You will have the opportunity to demonstrate critical reflection on your development as a practice educator through feedback from colleagues, HEI tutors and other assessment sources. As well as reflect on how you can continue to perform as an effective practice educator in accordance with the Practice Educator Professional Standards for Social Work.
Please note, in order to be able to independently support and assess social work students in line with the Practice Educator Framework, you must have successfully completed the Developing Practice Educator Skills short course or equivalent prior to undertaking this short course.
