This short course has been designed to bridge the gap for those individuals who do not yet meet the entry criteria for their chosen degree level course. It may also be useful for those individuals who have not been in education for over 5 years. This blended learning course provides the opportunity for you to develop the academic skills required to progress in higher education and successfully complete your academic studies.

- Supported by an academic team you'll undertake a series of weekly activities and online reading via the University’s Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).
Teaching and assessment
The course is delivered through a range of teaching methods including lectures, tutorial support and guided independent study.
Assessment involves the submission of a written assignment and reflection. Your module specification/course handbook will provide full details of the assessment criteria applying to your course.
Feedback (usually written) is normally provided on all coursework submissions within three term time weeks – unless the submission was made towards the end of the session in which case feedback would be available on request after the formal publication of results. Feedback on exam performance/final coursework is available on request after the publication of results.
Entry requirements
In addition to the University’s general minimum entry requirements you must also:
- have a level 3 qualification
If your first language is not English, you will need to meet the minimum requirements of an English Language qualification. The minimum for IELTS is 6.0 overall with no element lower than 5.5, or equivalent.
