BSc (Hons) in Agriculture (Part Time Level 8 Add-On)
This 60-credit, 3-semester part-time, predominately online programme has been developed in collaboration with Teagasc Ballyhaise Agricultural College, is ideally suited to holders of level 7 qualifications in Agriculture and related areas who wish to progress to a level 8 qualification. This programme offers students the opportunity to develop new skills to keep pace with ongoing technological and policy changes in the Agriculture sector, with the additional benefit of being prepared for a possible new career as an entrepreneur or in the Agri-food sector.
Graduates of this programme will demonstrate:
- A strong background in sustainable agricultural production, including all aspects of quality assurance from farm to fork.
- A strong skills base in research and data management, while focussing on applied aspects in the area of digital agriculture.
- An appreciation of sustainable animal production systems in terms of herd health, biosecurity and genetics, all of which are underpinned by a strong sustainable environment focus with a view to optimising animal health and the associated environment.
- A strong background in policy and professional practice in the Agriculture Sector.
- The ability to identify appropriate sustainable soil applications and energy technologies to match resources to demand for a given situation from energy, carbon and economic perspectives.
- Understanding of the key quality management and food safety standards and tools with a view to producing efficient, sustainable, safe, traceable and value added food products.
- The ability to apply evolving science, technology and business acumen through an innovative and adaptable approach to meet current and future challenges in the Agriculture sector.
- The ability to work independently on the design, development and completion of an innovative research study.
