Certificate in Nursing: Recognition and Management of the Deteriorating Adult

The aim of the programme are to provide learners with opportunities to develop their knowledge and skills in the recognition and management of the deteriorating adult/patients 

 

On completion of the course the graduates will be able to:

  • Critically evaluate the knowledge, skills and attitudes required to recognise and manage deteriorating adults within the health care setting.  
  • Demonstrate competence and critical thinking ability, which enhances assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of nursing care through discursive knowledge, reflection and evidence-based practice.                         
  • Demonstrate evidence-based clinical practice skills and decision-making processes, essential for safe nursing practice. Perform a nursing assessment; plan and initiate care and treatment modalities within agreed interdisciplinary protocols to achieve patient/client-centred outcomes and evaluate their effectiveness.           
  • Utilise and demonstrate advanced knowledge and critical thinking in the performance of a comprehensive assessment of an acutely ill adult              
  • Adopt a holistic approach to nursing care and integrate evidence-based knowledge in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the deteriorating adult.
  • Effectively manage the nursing care of the deteriorating adult. Determine priorities for care based on need, acuity and optimal time for intervention.              
  • Self-evaluate and take responsibility for continuing academic / professional development
