Postgraduate Diploma in Building Surveying (Full-Time)

The HCI Pillar 1 (Springboard+) funded Postgraduate Diploma in Building Surveying is a 1-year full-time conversion programme providing for construction graduates to become educated for a career in Building Surveying/Building Engineering in Ireland and abroad. It has been developed as an alternative route into the Building Surveying profession other than by way of the traditional honours undergraduate degree.

It has been developed as an alternative route into the Building Surveying profession other than by way of the traditional honour’s undergraduate degree. The programme is designed for graduates with cognate degrees who wish to upskill and convert to a career in the construction Industry. A cognate discipline is a course that is in a different, but related field.  This intensive Level 9 programme is not accessible by graduates with unrelated qualifications or work experience.

This new PGDip in Building Surveying course is a one year, full time programme, which addresses the qualification requirement set down by the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (the Association of Building Engineers and the Chartered Institute of Building & RICS) in respect to conversion courses, which will qualify participants (subject to validation) to take the Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) and become chartered.

The proposed PGDip identifies a pathway for addressing the ‘current trends in supply and demand for skills in the economy’ specifically ‘skills shortage in specific sectors such as Financial Services, Health and Construction (Surveyors) Industry’ identified in ‘Ireland’s National Skills Strategy 2025’.
