The Postgraduate Diploma in Mechanical Engineering program is a professionally oriented level 9 degree program that provides advanced knowledge and experiential opportunities beyond that of a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. This programme provides a detailed knowledge of advanced methods in Mechanical Engineering including theoretical foundations, and computational and experimental methods. Furthermore, a focus is placed on applying the knowledge and skills gained through the programme to real challenges within the manufacturing and mechanical engineering sectors. The programme has been developed to meet the needs of the regional and national engineering industry, which requires graduates with high-level skills in design, analysis and testing.

 

The programme has been designed to provide a flexible route to an advanced degree and is available in both full-time (2 days per week for 1 year) and part-time (1 day per week for 2 years) delivery modes. The course comprises of 60 ECTS Credits of taught modules.

 

Learners who complete this programme, subsequently have the option of completing an additional 30 credit project module to achieve a Master of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering.
