Teacher Education – Consecutive Technological Education

The Technological Education Teacher Education program (Bachelor or Certificate of Education) prepares candidates to become certified to teach one of ten broad-based technologies in Ontario high schools.

The program begins in January and June each year and is 16 months in duration. It is comprised of four terms, delivered in a blended online and in-person format. All students must be available to begin in January or June, depending on which intake was applied for. Three in school teaching practicums (comprised of a total of 80 days) must also be completed. Successful candidates may elect to continue working while attending this program during the online portions. In class attendance is mandatory during the face to face component of the program.

The home campus for this program is Brock University Burlington Campus (BUBC).

As part of its plan to better serve students along the Hamilton-Burlington-Oakville corridor, Brock University Burlington Campus (BUBC) will move in 2025 to the future City of Burlington community hub once work on the property is completed. Currently, the location of BUBC is 1433 Headon Road in Burlington for the duration of the 2024-25 academic year and is home to Brock’s Teacher Education programs (professional/BEd). For updates, please visit our BUBC webpage.

Upon successful completion of the program, teacher candidates are normally recommended to the Ontario College of Teachers for membership and to receive their Ontario Certificate of Qualification. All graduates will achieve a single subject BBT basic qualification in Grades 9 and 10, and Grades 11 and 12, allowing them to teach at the secondary level in their area of expertise.
