BA in Adult Education (Honours)
Now accepting applications for online classes beginning in Spring 2023.
The BA Adult Education (Honours) program is designed for individuals working with – or aspiring to work with – adults in a variety of educational settings including private and public college and post-secondary settings, corporate training, public service settings, health care, public safety and security, the voluntary sector and other management and/or supervisory settings. It is also for individuals who wish to develop their knowledge and skills in workplace settings in teaching, coaching, mentoring, training, and adult skill development. Some may be considering graduate study and further research in the field.
Most of our students are part time, mature distance learners who apply their degrees in many sectors – business, industry, health care, government, human resources, post-secondary sectors, financial services and manufacturing, where education and skills development are the focus of their work.
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Life is busy. Flexibility and options are important. Find your fit among the options. Prior post-secondary study may be considered for transfer and advanced standing into the degree pathways.
PROGRAM OPTIONS
The BA in Adult Education (Honours) is a gateway into a selection of options and pathways:
As a first or subsequent degree, consider:
- BA in Adult Education (Honours) – a four-year undergraduate degree program consisting of 20 undergraduate courses – some specified, some context and others in a broad range of electives.
- BA in Adult Education (Pass) – earned after successful completion of the requirements of the first three years of the BA Adult Education (Honours).
Not ready or interested in a degree? Consider a shorter Certificate in Adult Education.
- Certificate in Adult Education – comprised of five core Adult Education courses. Successful completion of the certificate enables laddering into the degree program. All core ADED courses are transferred in the degree. Candidates who have obtained the Certificate in Adult Education may later apply for the BA in Adult Education (Honours). All credits earned in the certificate program will be transferable to the degree program.
- Minor in Adult Education – Students in other disciplines can obtain a Minor in Adult Education within their degree program by completing specific courses with a minimum 60 percent overall average. Please see the Undergraduate Calendar for details.
- Micro-Certificates – Micro-certificate in Post-Secondary Education or Adult Education – General or Equity, Diversity and Inclusion or Workplace Education, Leadership and Conflict Management. This option is open to those who do not wish to register for a full program and requires an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent mature student status.
