Experiential Learning Opportunities

Students in the Tourism - Operations Management program are exposed to real-world learning through a variety of ways during their time at Lambton College.

This program prepares students for future work by providing industry certifications and a paid co-op work term where companies will come on-campus to recruit. Students also participate in team based projects that include themes like:

  • Tour Planning of a four-day Canadian Getaway;
  • Tourism Marketing Plans;
  • Debating Tourism Trends from a Sustainable and Responsible Lens; and
  • Fundraising Events.

Students gain exposure to computerized business simulations that include Hotel Property Management Systems, Entrepreneurial Operations, and Digital Marketing Communications. They also gain valuable leadership development and organizational leadership skills through interactive workshops.

This Lambton College program is licensed to and delivered by Queen's College (PDF), a licensed private career college in Mississauga, Ontario. Students that are registered at Lambton in Mississauga are students of a public college and as such, will receive full credit from Lambton College for all Lambton College courses completed at the Queen's College campus in Mississauga. Students who meet program graduation requirements will graduate with a credential from Lambton College. Students may be scheduled to have classes on Saturdays.

Admission Requirements

O.S.S.D. or equivalent with:

  • Grade 12 English C or U

English Language Proficiency Requirements

Applicants must demonstrate language proficiency by submitting one of the following scores:

  • IELTS of 6.0;
  • TOEFL iBT 69; or
  • Passed Lambton Institute of English placement test.

Please Note: IELTS is the only proficiency score accepted by the Study Direct Stream (SDS) program. Additional country-specific requirements may also be applicable.

Meeting the minimum English requirements does not guarantee admission. Students with higher English proficiency scores will receive priority in the admission assessment process.

Technology Requirements

In order to keep pace with the requirements of each and every course in your program, it is mandatory to own a reliable laptop to complete tests and assignments.

WIL Project Fees

Students that are not successful at securing a co-op or fail to meet the co-op requirements will be required to register in CPL-5559 WIL Project. There is an additional fee for the WIL Project. The WIL Project Fee will be $2,480 for each student, provided they have already paid their subsequent co-op fees of $900 in full in the proceeding three terms.

Textbooks

The anticipated cost for textbooks in this program is approximately $300 - $600 per term. This amount accounts for both mandatory textbook costs (included in tuition fees) as well as textbook fees not included in your tuition fee amount.

Medical Insurance

  • Medical Insurance Fee - $700 per year provided by guard.me
  • Medical Insurance is mandatory for all full-time, part-time, and co-op students of Lambton College. Medical insurance is provided by guard.me - a third-party insurance provider. Full-time, part-time and co-op students of Lambton College are not permitted to opt-out of the medical insurance fee as it is non-cancellable and non-transferable. Guard.me insurance costs are charged on an annual basis.
  • The health care insurance is for emergency health care coverage during one's study period and involves only a basic package. Not all medical conditions are covered and prospective students are strongly urged to review the coverage details prior to arriving in Canada. This will allow time to purchase additional coverage before departure, if needed.
