Electrical Engineering Technology (Optional Co-op)

Our Electrical Engineering Technology advanced diploma program comprises a 3-year education with an optional 16-month Co-op.

 

This program is designed to meet the needs of highly skilled technologists in the ever-expanding Electricity Sector. The two main themes you will cover are Power Systems and Industrial Automation, including topics such as Electrical Theory, PLC Programming and Troubleshooting, Power Systems and Protection, Instrumentation and Controls, AC/DC Motors and Controls, CAD and some 3D modeling, PV(Solar) Systems and Design, Conservation Methods, Computer Networking, Computer Programming, Embedded Design, Power Electronics, and Transformer Design.

 

There is an emphasis on effective techniques for designing, installing, modifying, testing, maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting equipment. You will learn these design and analysis skills on our modern campus through in-class theory, hands-on labs, and a capstone project.

 

Once you graduate, you can apply for a career in Electrical Design (utility, consultant, manufacturing), System Integration (automation), System Operator (utility), SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition), Field Service, Estimating, Project Management, and Technical Sales.
