Energy Systems Engineering Technology - Electrical (Optional Co-op)

Conestoga’s three-year Energy Systems Engineering Technology- Electrical advanced diploma program has an optional 16-month Co-op. This program is designed to meet the needs of highly skilled technologists in the ever-expanding Electricity Sector.

You will study Power Systems, Low Carbon Energy Systems, and Smart Building Systems, covering topics such as Electrical Theory, Power Systems and Protection, Renewable Energy (PV (Solar), Wind, Energy Storage) Systems and Design, HVAC Systems, PLC programming, Instrumentation and Controls, AC/DC Motors and Controls, Conservation Methods, CAD and some 3D modeling, Thermodynamics, Computer Networking, Power Electronics, and Transformer Design.

We emphasize learning effective techniques for designing, installing, modifying, testing, maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting equipment. You will learn these design and analysis skills on our modern campus through in-class theory, hands-on labs, and a capstone project. These will lead you to careers in electrical design (utility, consultant, manufacturing), electrification, system operations (utility), building automation, field service, energy consultant, estimation, project management, and technical sales.

As a graduate, you will meet the academic requirements to become a Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) by OACETT. You will also have a pathway to the Bachelor of Engineering - Power Systems Engineering (PSE) program.
