The need for insurance is universal resulting in an industry that is characterized by growth, global reach and presence in almost every community. Approximately $30 billion is paid each year to Canadians for medical treatment, loss of wages, repairs to damaged property or for the replacement of goods and services. Careers in insurance offer stability and significant opportunities for advancement. Conestoga’s two-year diploma program will provide you with broad exposure to business practices within the insurance industry. Areas of study within property and casualty coverage include agency claims and investigation, underwriting, marketing and management. An optional co-op work-term provides you an authentic, professionally-relevant work experience. The opportunity to connect theory with practice will allow you to develop a broad base of occupational skills, embrace key concepts and terminology within the field and expose you to networking opportunities. In addition, you will have the opportunity to gain nine of the ten credits required for the Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation from the Insurance Institute of Canada and you may choose to register for the CIP national exams at an additional cost in order to receive credentials awarded by the Institute.Pursue a career within the insurance industry and make a difference in the lives of those in your community. The optional co-op stream includes one co-op work term.
