Democratic Administration
Diploma programs are open to students in any relevant graduate program or to those who have a general interest in graduate-level work. For diplomas that are part of a graduate degree (concurrent), please contact the relevant graduate program office. For graduate diplomas that can be pursued on their own (stand-alone, direct entry), applications are submitted online.
The Graduate Program in Political Science offers a Graduate Diploma in Democratic Administration that is awarded concurrently with a Masters or Doctoral degree for which the student is registered.
The Diploma program aims to equip students with both the analytical and practical insights needed to help build more democratic and responsive institutions. The program is geared to both new and returning students who aspire to leadership positions in popular sector institutions, from trade unions and non-profitable charities, to state administration and quasi-governmental organizations.
Each student is exposed to an in-depth analysis of the parameters which constrain collective institutions and the state, with the goal of ensuring that students are able to both elaborate and critically evaluate policies across a broad range of social and economic issues. Equally important, in keeping with the democratic thrust of the program, students explore alternative methods of policy formation and implementation.
