Sexuality Studies

Certificates allow you to complete a specific group of university courses (for credit) as either part of your degree studies or separately. Additional details on certificates are available here.

A central mission of Sexuality Studies is to examine intersections of sexuality with ability, age, class, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, health, nationality, race and religion. Sexuality Studies takes into consideration sexual desires, acts, identities, communities and movements. This interdisciplinary field explores artistic, cultural, economic, geographic, historical, literary, political and psychological dimensions of sexuality, while also investigating sexual dimensions of arts, economies, geographies, histories, literatures, politics and psychologies.

Sexuality Studies courses investigate lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered, transsexual, intersexed, cissexual, heterosexual and heteronormative identities and cultures, along with alternative ways of organizing sexualities and alternatives to sexuality, in the past, present and future.
