CU Denver’s Graduate Certificate in Teaching College-level Literature and Film is designed to help graduate students gain the skills and subject-matter expertise necessary to teach literature and film at the high school and college levels. It fulfills the increasing needs of educators seeking to deepen and broaden their content specialization. Upon successful completion of the program, certificate students will be able to model close reading and analysis; discuss the significance of cultural and historical context; and demonstrate a variety of effective pedagogic techniques for teaching literary and filmic texts.  The certificate does not grant state licensure. It ensures competency for those who already are licensed, provides documentation in expertise for those teaching in community colleges, and enables specialization for those with Master’s degrees in related fields (i.e. Rhetoric, Composition, Literature, Film Studies, Humanities, Education).  For more information, see our program learning goals.
