Master of Arts in English
Students in the graduate program are required to take a total of 31 hours of coursework including one hour of EH 605 (“Introduction to Graduate Studies in English”) and at least nine hours of literature classes. In addition, Plan I students must take six hours of EH 699 (“Thesis Research”) and must complete and successfully defend a masters thesis; Plan II students must take three hours of EH 697 (“30-Books Semester”) and must propose and then pass a “30-books” examination. All students must take at least 15 hours of coursework at the 600-level, including no more than three hours of EH 698 or EH 699.
