Midwifery (Degree Apprenticeship)
Take an exciting new route into midwifery and join a cohort of midwifery apprentices employed in London and the South East.
Applications and recruitment for the Midwifery Degree Apprenticeship are undertaken by our Partner Trusts, not the university. Applicants should agree in advance with their employer Education/Apprenticeship Lead, for which course they will be applying for.
This three-year or four-year Midwifery Degree Apprenticeship includes study at the university campus alongside practice-based learning and employment time in your employing Trust.
Most NHS Trusts only accept internal candidates who have completed a minimum of 12 months service prior to an application being made.
Your fees are paid by the employing Trust's apprenticeship levy and you will be paid the equivalent of a maternity support worker for the duration of the course.
You will emerge with the knowledge, understanding, skills and behaviours to practise as a registered midwife and register with the NMC. This course is based on the NMC Standards (NMC,2019) and the apprenticeship standard ST0948 listed on the Institute for Apprenticeships website. The course also leads to a bachelor's degree (BSc Hons).
