Admission Requirements

  • Current, unencumbered registered nurse license in your state of residence
  • Cumulative G.P.A of 3.0 or higher
  • Completed University of Bridgeport application
  • Official transcripts for the last degree earned
  • 2 letters of recommendation(only 1 letter required for current UB R.N. to B.S.N students)
  • 300-500 word personal essay describing your career goals and interest in UB’s program

Transfer Credits

Graduate students with a BSN transferring from another institution can apply for admission. The transfer of master’s level courses from another university will be individually reviewed for possible course credit but only if 30 graduate-level credits are completed here at the University of Bridgeport and if equal content and level of coursework are confirmed for each course.

Arrangements for RN to BSN Students

Students entering the RN to BSN program may express an interest in and conditionally be accepted into the MSN pending successful completion of RN to BSN coursework and up to 3 MSN bridge courses (NURS 540, NURS 575, NURS 590).

Upon admission of UB RN to BSN students into the Accelerated MSN Program:

  1. MATH203 is a required pre-requisite unless taken as part of the undergraduate nursing program.
  2. Prior to starting these courses, students may request permission to take up to 3 graduate level MSN courses in place of the undergraduate RN to BSN courses:
    • NURS 540 for NURS 301 (3cr) Theory and Evidenced Based Practice
    • NURS 575 for NURS 306 (3cr) Quality, Safety & Policy
    • NURS 590 for NURS 307 (3cr) Nursing Informatics
  3. If students apply to the MSN after completion of the RN to BSN, the 3 graduate level courses must be taken- NURS 540, NURS 575, NURS 590
