Hybrid Ed.D. Program in Educational Leadership
Educational Leadership (Ed.D.) Degree Requirements
Program Prerequisites
- 62- and 66-Credit options:
- Master’s degree from an accredited institution with a cumulative graduate GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- 42-Credit option:
- Certificate of Advanced Studies, Education Specialist (Ed.S.) or Sixth Year degree
Required Materials
- Application
- Official transcripts for the last degree earned.
- International transcripts must include an official course-by-course evaluation of all academic work from www.naces.org
- Two letters of recommendation
- Provide one letter from a colleague and one letter from a supervisor that attests to your demonstrated leadership, potential for further leadership development and the ability to benefit from doctoral study.
- Personal Statement
- In 500 words or more, detail the following topics:
- Your reasons for wanting to undertake doctoral studies
- Your most significant personal and professional accomplishments
- The extent to which your personal and professional responsibilities will allow you to devote the necessary time and effort to the program
- A detailed description of your potential research topic
- In 500 words or more, detail the following topics:
- Writing sample
- The writing sample may include your Master’s thesis, a published or submitted journal article, a scholarly paper, or a document created for your institution
- Résumé
- Official TOEFL scores are required of applicants whose native language is not English.

Deadlines
Applications are accepted for starting the program in the fall or spring semesters. The program does not follow a cohort model.
Completed application and all supporting documents must be received by:
- May 1 for priority consideration; July 15 (final deadline) for the fall semester
- October 1 for priority consideration; December 1 (final deadline) for the spring semester
Hybrid Online Ed.D. Courses
The Ed.D. courses can be fulfilled by completing 62 credits in the following strands: educational leadership, research and analysis, international education, and dissertation. Information is provided below. Full-time students may complete this option in as little as 3.5 years, fast-tracking their career advancement.
Students have the option to pursue their 092 and Ed.D. simultaneously by taking 4 additional credits for a total of 66 credits. This option must be considered when admitted into the program.
Students who have completed an accredited Sixth-Year or Education Specialist post-Master’s degree can complete the Ed.D. program with as few as 42 credits.
