Course description
Introduction to Bookbinding is a one-day course for anyone who wants to learn to make handcrafted books using traditional tools and techniques. During the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to fold and manipulate paper by learning three versatile book structures: the pamphlet, the hard back concertina, and the Japanese stab binding. Participants will learn an accessible, inexpensive way to produce their own sketchbooks, gifts, or artists' books. This introduction also aims to provide the practical knowledge to start a self-publishing project by discussing print production, paper stocks, best printing methods based on quantity, size and binding style and file preparation.
