Return to: College of Education and Human Services Debbie Jackson, Certificate Program Director INTRODUCTIONThe purpose of this program is to provide an opportunity for teachers who hold a teaching certificate or license in Elementary (K-8 or 1-8) and who have completed five or more years of teaching science in one or more middle school grades to earn a university graduate certificate in middle childhood science. This program is not designed to lead to a license to teach middle school science. Individuals seeking to complete a licensure program should contact the Cleveland State University Education Student Service Advising Office at (216) 687-4625 for further information. ADMISSION INFORMATIONProspective students should apply for graduate admission as a “certificate” student to register for classes. Applicants must meet the graduate certificate admission requirements detailed in the Admissions section of this Catalog. With program permission, non-degree graduate students may enroll in the courses noted below, but non-degree graduate students cannot earn a University graduate certificate. Degree-seeking graduate students who hold Regular admission status also may be admitted to the certificate program. Credits earned for the certificate may be applied toward a graduate degree, as approved by the student’s graduate program director and in keeping with the policies of the College of Graduate Studies.
