New Zealand Certificate in Study and Career Preparation (Level 4)

You will focus on developing core skills to help you achieve in your career or study plans including strong strategies for learning, academic writing and referencing and digital literacy.

 

Core Courses

SCP 4.001

Communication Skills

In this course, students will develop reading, writing and interpersonal skills in preparation for the literacy demands of tertiary study.

SCP 4.002

Career Preparation and Study Skills

To provide students with the opportunity to develop study and citizenship skills for successful future study and work in New Zealand/Aotearoa.

 

Elective Courses (Pick Two)

SCP 4.003

Sociology 

To provide students with an introduction to the major components that help shape New Zealand society and allow individuals and groups to make sense of the communities in which they live.

SCP 4.004

Biological Science

In this course students will gain a basic knowledge of biological science, with particular reference to the human body.

SCP 4.005

Te Ao M?ori 

To provide students with: a working knowledge of te reo and tikanga M?ori to take into future study and/or work, insight into the values that underpin M?ori worldviews and a grounding in M?ori mythology, symbolism and arts.

 

Entry Requirements

  • Open entry.

Any applicants whose first language is not English may be required to provide evidence of an overall IELTS (Academic) band score of 5.5 (with no score below 5 in speaking, reading, writing and listening) or equivalent.

 

Career Options

Depending on the courses chosen, students may be able to seek entry level employment in a variety of areas.

 

Further Study Options

Holders of this qualification will be able to progress to further study or training at NZQF Level 5 and above (diploma or degree) related to the context of their programme.
