New Zealand Certificate in English Language (Academic) (Level 4)

Summary

This programme will prepare students for higher tertiary study or training in New Zealand. Students will enhance their already proficient oral and written English language skills to understand and use more complex language in academic and workplace contexts, and for most situations in wider life.

This programme is at a level comparable to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) mid B2.

 

Career/further opportunities

Graduates will have the English language skills to work in positions that require:

  • Strong interpersonal skills and complex communication

  • Understanding of context-specific texts of a more academic nature

  • Writing records and reports to a high standard

  • Interaction in a team 

 

This certificate builds on the New Zealand Certificate in English Language (Applied) (Level 3) and can lead to the New Zealand Certificate in English Language (Academic) (Level 5).

 

This certificate may facilitate meeting the language requirements for?many vocational and undergraduate programmes/courses and specialised fields of study requiring lower and/or New Zealand Qualifications Framework Level 5 for entrance depending on the focus of the programme leading to this qualification.
