New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Health Assistance) (Level 3)

As part of our move into Te Pukenga we’re excited to be part of a large-scale review of courses. This is ongoing, and means that some course details including fees, and entry requirements may change. In the meantime please go ahead and apply as normal and we are always available to answer any questions you might have.

Do you want to work in or re-enter the health and wellbeing industry as a healthcare assistant? If so then this course is for you.

You gain the skills and knowledge required to provide person-centred health care under the direction of a health professional.

You explore the way different health issues and practices impact the wellbeing of individuals, families and communities and learn how to care for people with multiple conditions or disabilities. You also learn how to safely move patients and how to respond to vulnerability and abuse.

New Zealand’s aging population means there is increasing demand for people with your skills. With this qualification you will be able to access a higher level of remuneration based on the funding changes applicable to trained health assistant workers.

You could also use this course as a stepping stone towards applying for higher level nursing courses or other degrees.

Upon successfully completing the requirements you'll receive the award of:

  • New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Health Assistance) (Level 3)
