Certificate in Foundation Skills (Level 2) strand in Music and Music Technology
This qualification is for individuals who wish to explore the world of music performance, musical theory, and music technology from an introductory level.
It provides students with the foundational knowledge to continue into a Certificate in Music (Level 4).
Graduates can contribute to the cultural, social and economic life of Aotearoa New Zealand.
Graduates of this qualification will be able to:
- Learn to read and write music from entry level
- Students will be given weekly one on one tuition on their chosen instrument
- Contribute to music composition and arrangements
- Communicate effectively with peers, tutors and work cohesively within a band environment
- Organize and implement personal and group practice routine
- Perform music with confidence and ability for an audience
- Demonstrate rudimentary technical ability on a musical instrument(s)
- Use music creation and sound reinforcement technology safely and efficiently
- Apply a broad range of research skills to inform own music practice
- To log and reflect upon personal musical development
- Use a range of personal and interpersonal skills to work in the music industry
- Apply understanding of the music industry to develop own career plan
