Bachelor of International Hospitality Management – Hospitality Enterprise Level 7
The Hospitality Enterprise major in the Bachelor of International Hospitality Management focuses on the development of hospitable employee and customer experiences. You’ll explore strategies to improve staff wellbeing and propose innovative ways to create sustainable futures for the hospitality industry.
Modules
Year 1
In Year 1, you complete eight courses that will start your journey in creating positive experiences for customers and employees in hospitality organisations.
Complete the following Hospitality Enterprise major courses:
- HOSP502 Applied Food and Beverage Management (Restaurant)
- HOSP503 Organisation and Human Behaviour Perspectives
- HOSP507 International Hospitality Management
- HOSP509 Hospitality Social Enterprise
- HOSP604 Hospitality Human Resource Management
- HOSP609 Hospitality Innovation and Change
2 elective courses
You’ll automatically be pre-enrolled in your first-year courses, which include two recommended elective courses. In Semester 1, you’ll have the opportunity to choose another elective or minor or additional major courses if you prefer.
Year 2
In Year 2 you take the following Hospitality Enterprise major courses:
- HOSP601 Service Management for Hospitality
- HOSP611 Critical Hospitality Perspectives
- HOSP717 Guest Experience
You also need to complete additional courses in your second and third year to make up the total of 360 points you need for your degree. You can do this by:
- Option 1: studying Hospitality Enterprise, one minor and electives
- Option 2: studying Hospitality Enterprise and two minors
- Option 3: studying Hospitality Enterprise and one other major (depending on your chosen second major you may need more than 360 points to complete your degree)
You can talk to us about which option is best for you. You don’t need to make this choice until you’re at AUT.
Year 3
In Year 3, Semester 1 you take the following Hospitality Enterprise major courses:
- HOSP715 Holistic People Management for Hospitality and Tourism
- HOSP716 Hospitality Innovation Competition
- MGMT721 Leadership Principles, Perspectives and Practice
- Plus 1 elective/minor/additional major course
Workplace experience
In your final semester, you complete valuable workplace experience with an organisation (this is the Hospitality Work Integrated Learning course). It’s a great opportunity to develop industry networks and make a decision on your professional career after graduation.
