🚀 We're Here to Assist You

Shotover Primary School

We cater for children from new entrants to year 8. We opened our doors for the very first time in 2015 with 88 children on day one. Since then we have grown to a touch over 600 children. We are fortunate to have had all our future growth space fully built and we enjoy contemporary learning spaces that make the most of our location including a community hall with a music studio, technology and science room, and playgrounds.

Our vision for all our children is to Create a Climate of Possibility. Our goal is to cause learning to happen and to create an environment that does not limit the imagination of the children entrusted to our care. We want to see them leave us at the end of year 8 knowing that they can pursue the possibilities that they have conceived and explored at our school.

We consider it a huge privilege and responsibility to serve the families of Shotover Primary School. Causing learning for your children is something we are honoured to do. We trust you will enjoy your time as part of Shotover Primary School.

Program

  • New Zealand Curriculum (NZC)

New Zealand Curriculum Learning Areas: English, The Arts, Health & Physical Education, Mathematics, Science, Social Sciences, Technology, NZ Histories, Te Reo Maori & Kapa Haka The New Zealand Curriculum (NZC) is divided into levels. The achievement objectives within each of the levels are broad statements for each learning area. Each of these levels takes 2-3 years for children to work through. Children in both Year 1 and Year 2 are expected to be working within Level 1 of the NZC. Children in both Year 3 and Year 4 are expected to be working within Level 2 of the NZC, and so on. Parents/caregivers can see from the diagram below that each curriculum level is spread across multiple year levels. It is usual for a child to be working across two curriculum levels. They may still be mastering some learning goals at the lower level, while extending forward with other goals at higher levels.
