Program

  • NCEA

In Year 11, all students will undertake Level 1 of New Zealand’s National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA). During this year they will choose if they wish to continue with NCEA Levels 2 & 3 or undertake the two-year International Baccalaureate Diploma (DP) in Years 12 and 13. National Certificate of Educational Achievement NCEA is New Zealand’s qualification for Year 11-13 students. It is a standards-based assessment combining a mix of both internal and external assessments. At QMC girls have the opportunity to study levels 1-3 of NCEA. To achieve NCEA, students must meet the following requirements at each level. Credits are awarded as Achieved, Merit or Excellence.

  • Dual-curriculum pathways

Queen Margaret College has 100 years’ experience in delivering world class education to girls. We are an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School known for delivering outstanding academic results. Our curriculum promotes multilingualism, intercultural understanding and global engagement, broadening perspectives and bringing new experiences to learning. We offer dual-curriculum pathways for seniors, meaning they have a unique opportunity to choose the type of education they receive, depending on their individual strengths, interests and learning styles. We believe in tailoring education for girls. That means championing their learning needs, building resilience and supporting leadership and academic success. We are committed to providing better opportunities for young women in their learning and lives after school.

  • International Baccalaureate (IB)

The IB Diploma is an integrated course that emphasizes collaboration and the future skills needed for success. Subjects are not taught in isolation but refer to the other areas of life and knowledge. In the future, students will change careers several times over - a sound base in 6 areas is beneficial as it encourages different approaches and flexibility. You do not specialize too early and miss something that could be a future passion and career. “IB Diploma students face no jump when entering university.” (Auckland University) “Success in an IB Diploma programme correlates well with success at Harvard. We are always pleased to see the credentials of the IB Diploma Program on the transcript.” (Harvard University) “The IB Diploma is a first-rate programme, one we are familiar with, and it prepares students well for a university like ours.” (Princeton University)
