Scots College

Scots College is a co-educational world-class independent Presbyterian day and boarding school for students Years 1 - 13.

 

The College is comprised of three schools; Junior (Years 1-6), Middle (Years 7-10) and Senior (Years 11-13) and is an authorized IB World School. The Scots motto of 'Virtutem Paret Doctrina', translates as 'Let education build all round character' and emphasises the schools' commitment to an holistic education and the development of well-rounded students with substance. The College prides itself on consistently high academic achievements and for preparing students for success at a tertiary level and later in life, over 90% of Scots College's students go on to universities in New Zealand and around  the world every year. A key focus at Scots College is to ensure students are well prepared for their life after school. That as well as providing the necessary knowledge to prepare students for their futures there is also focus on students developing the soft skills they will require to be successful such as emotional intelligence, social intelligence and cultural intelligence. Transferable skills such as critical thinking, collaboration, communication, creativity, character and citizenship all play a significant role in the College's curriculum design at all Year Levels.

  • The International Baccalaureate (IB)

    The International Baccalaureate (IB) programme is offered across all three schools, providing students with a globally recognised qualification. The IB curriculum promotes international-mindedness, academic rigor, and holistic development. Students are challenged to think critically, inquire, and develop a deep understanding of various subjects. The programme fosters independent learning, research skills, and a broader perspective on cultural diversity and global issues.

  • The National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA)

    The National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA) is another pathway available to students at the Senior School level. NCEA is the national qualification system in New Zealand and offers a range of subjects across different levels of achievement. It provides flexibility and caters to diverse learning needs, allowing students to choose courses aligned with their interests and strengths. Scots College has consistently achieved high NCEA pass rates, reflecting our commitment to academic excellence.
