Kristin School
Kristin is a leading independent, Early Learning to Year 13 co-educational school with a roll of over 1800 students situated on Auckland’s North Shore.
The first authorised International Baccalaureate (IB) School in New Zealand, Kristin has offered its Senior students the choice of the IB Diploma Programme or the NZ National Qualification (now NCEA) since 1989. Recognised internationally as a university entrance qualification, the IB Diploma has enabled Kristin graduates to gain entry to some of the world’s most prestigious universities including Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard and Stanford.
The International Programme at Kristin offers students superb facilities and courses. Our International Student programme adds a cultural richness to school life, encouraging diversity, empathy and the development of an international perspective for our whole school community.
In fact our international students are such an important part of our school that we have set up a specialist International Services Centre, which acts as:
- An admin hub
- An orientation meeting place
- A drop-in centre for on-going and daily support of our international students
- A hosting venue for parents, homestays, educational agencies and overseas school exchanges and tours.
Kristin School is a signatory of the Code of Practice Pastoral Care for International Students.
Kristin welcomes international students for both short-term and long-term programmes. Short-term students attend for a minimum of one term and a maximum of four terms. One term is approximately ten weeks long and four terms is a full academic term.
Short-term Programme
Offers an opportunity for students to enrol for up to a maximum of one academic year for a study abroad experience. Students have the opportunity to enjoy a range of activities such as the outdoor education week in February, surfing and snowsports trips, as well as socials arranged by student committees. Students are generally not entered for NCEA or IB examinations but are eligible for special awards and receive a Certificate of Attendance.
Long-term Programme
Offers a dual pathway for students wishing to ultimately gain a high school qualification in either the NZ NCEA or the International Baccalaureate Diploma programme

All IB programmes:
?Have a strong international dimension ?Require study across a broad range of subjects ?Include both individual subjects and transdisciplinary areas ?Give special emphasis to learning languages ?Focus on developing the skills of learning ?Provide opportunities for individual and collaborative planning and research ?Encourage students to become responsible members of their community Building on the Christian values upon which Kristin was founded, the IB programmes aim to develop internationally-minded young people who, recognising their common humanity, help to create a better and more peaceful world. All IB students learn a second language together with the skills to live and work with others both locally and internationally. This international perspective, however, is not gained at the expense of their own language or culture. Indeed, we believe that the best way to appreciate another language or culture is firstly to be confident with your own. Our dual academic pathway enables Senior School students to take control of their education, allowing them to choose an academic format to suit their learning styles and to customise their qualification towards their tertiary aspirations. Senior students can choose from the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma and NCEA Level 2 and 3 pathways. Both challenging qualification pathways offer a broad range of subject choices to suit our studentsâ interests and future tertiary goals. They are supported by talented, experienced and passionate teachers, and regardless of their elected pathway, all students enjoy the advantages of studying within an IB World School.

Delivering three high-quality musical theatre shows each year, caters to our performers, technicians and musicians from across all three schools, and facilitates an amazing journey for each student within the walls of our auditorium. In all processes, Kristin students are offered the opportunity on and off-stage to learn the professional practice, while challenging themselves to step outside of their comfort zone; learning technical and performance specific skills in an uplifting, supportive environment. Â
