Rangitoto College is well-known nationally and internationally for providing an excellent learning environment and preparing students for future success. International students come to Rangitoto College from over 25 different countries and makeup around 8% of our student population.
Rangitoto College embraces the cultural diversity and character international students bring to our school. Many of our students come to study in our high school programme to gain entry onto tertiary study through either the NCEA or IB pathways. Rangitoto College has a history of providing excellent academic environment for them to be successful in their chosen academic pathway. We also welcome students to come for a term or semester as an opportunity to learn, grow, travel and experience a new culture
Rangitoto College is a top academic school and produces extremely high quality graduates, many of whom go on to the world's best universities. One recent graduate has been awarded a full scholarship to study at Harvard University, while another has been granted a full scholarship to New York University Abu Dhabi.

IB Diploma Programme
The IB Diploma Programme is designed to be both academically challenging and holistically balanced. In addition to their six chosen subjects, students take IB CORE comprising of CAS (Creativity, Service, and Activity components to balance their academic strengths), an Extended Essay (a university style 4,000 word essay, self-directed research with supervisor guidance) and Theory of Knowledge (a critical thinking course)

International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme
The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme is a broad, balanced and academically challenging educational programme. An IB Diploma indicates to a future university that a student is capable of managing the demands of undergraduate studies. IB students excel in Postgraduate university studies such is their academic success. This level of intellectual and personal development is unique in a secondary school curriculum. Rangitoto College is pleased to be one of 5,000 schools in 159 different countries to offer the International Baccalaureate Programme.

Junior Diploma
The Junior Diploma is aimed at supporting and challenging our Year 9 and 10 students. There are three levels of achievement within the diploma: White: first level, Red: second level, Blue: highest level

Level 1 NCEA in Year 11
Students undertake Level 1 NCEA in Year 11 and must obtain mainly Merit or Excellence grades (or equivalent qualification overseas) before being offered a place in the two-year International Baccalaureate Diploma programme.

NCEA in two years
It is possible to gain NCEA in two years, however, usually students gain credits in their last three years of school (Years 11, 12 and 13). All students who are at Rangitoto College from February to December (one full academic year) will be required to sit NCEA exams at the end of the year. The NCEA exam fees ($400) are already included in the tuition fee and are paid by the school.

NCEA is New Zealand's National Certificate of Educational Achievement
NCEA is a flexible and internationally well-recognised qualification, consisting of both internal assessments and external assessments to cater for different learning styles. Students sitting NCEA are assessed throughout the year with assignments, practical assessments, presentations, examinations, and project work.
