Unitec Institute of Technology

About Unitec – What It Is

Unitec Institute of Technology (often just called Unitec) is one of New Zealand’s largest Institutes of Technology and Polytechnics (ITP) based in Auckland. It offers a wide range of vocational, undergraduate and postgraduate programmes with a strong emphasis on practical, employment-oriented learning

Unitec is part of Te P?kenga – New Zealand Institute of Skills & Technology, a nationwide vocational education network. This means your qualification is nationally recognised in NZ and aligned to industry needs.

University / Institutional Ranking

  • Unitec isn’t a traditional research-focused university (like University of Auckland or AUT); it’s a polytechnic/ITP focused on applied and vocational education.
