    General English Day For people who want to improve their all-round English skills and learn how to communicate effectively. CCEL offers GE at 6 levels from beginner to advanced. GE courses include, speaking, listening, reading and writing lessons and vocabulary and grammar development. Courses are intensive, have regular testing and a focus on student progress. General English is available full-time for all students and part-time for students 18 years or older. CCEL is currenly offering a limited number of scholarships for General English 10 week courses at CCEL. Part-time is only available for students 18 years+. This course is also available Online (NZQA-approved).     CELTA CELTA (Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) is a highly-regarded internationally recognised qualification awarded by Cambridge English Jump to Content Overview What you will learn Placement & Assessment Outcomes Downloads AT A GLANCE The CELTA (Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) is a highly-regarded internationally recognised qualification awarded by Cambridge English. It is for native or near native (equivalent to IELTS 7.5 or above) English speakers who have little or no previous English language teaching experience. It is also ideal for more experienced teachers without an equivalent qualification. START DATES 2022 - Fri 28 October // 2023 - Mon 09 January COURSE LENGTH 4 weeks HOURS PER WEEK 40+ LEVELS AVAILABLE Native (or near native) speakers of English (IELTS 7.5 or equivalent) COURSE FEES 4 Weeks: $3,050 What you will learn About learners and teachers, and the teaching and learning context Language analysis and awareness Language skills: reading, listening, speaking and writing Planning for the effective teaching of adult learners of English Planning and resources for different contexts Developing teaching skills and professionalism Candidates will participate in input sessions, plan lessons, research and complete four written assignments, undertake teaching practice on classes of adult students, receive feedback about teaching practice and observe experienced teachers. CELTA is a very intensive course and the focus is on acquiring practical skills in a supportive environment. Placement Applications and selection are continuous, and are processed as they arrive. Successful applicants will be expected to complete the Cambridge pre-course task (in a number of sittings) before the start of their course. Assessment To meet the assessment requirements candidates are required to attend the course and teach for six hours on practice classes, observe experienced teachers teaching adult learners for a total of six hours, and maintain and submit a portfolio of all course work including assignments, lesson plans and feedback. The assessment is continuous and integrated. The course is internally assessed and externally moderated by an external assessor appointed by Cambridge.
